Transformer Respray
Date of Project: March 2026 Location: West Midlands
About This Project
Respray of a HV transformer, to protect and extend asset life.
What We Did
Overview
A high‑voltage (HV) transformer within an operational substation required refurbishment following visible coating failure and early corrosion caused by long‑term environmental exposure. The objective was to restore protection, improve asset condition, and extend service life.
Before:
- Deteriorated paint system with areas of exposed steel
- Surface corrosion developing on external components
- Increased risk of long‑term asset degradation
Work Completed
Our team delivered a controlled HV transformer respray programme in full compliance with site safety and permit requirements. The scope of works included:
- Site setup, access control, and HV safety compliance
- Mechanical surface preparation to remove rust and failed coatings
- Cleaning and preparation of all external transformer surfaces
- Application of a high‑performance anti‑corrosive coating system
After:
- Uniform, high‑quality protective coating applied
- Significantly improved corrosion resistance
- Restored appearance and professional asset finish
Customer Benefits
- Extended service life of a critical HV transformer
- Reduced risk of corrosion‑related failure
- Lower long‑term maintenance and lifecycle costs
- Improved asset presentation within the substation
- Safe, efficient delivery with zero incidents and minimal disruption
