Transformer Mounted RMU Replacement
Date of Project: June 2026 Location: Northampton
About This Project
Installation of replacement transformer mounted RMU.
What We Did
Overview
Our client required the replacement of an ageing transformer-mounted Ring Main Unit (RMU) to ensure the continued reliability, safety, and performance of their electrical distribution network. Following a site assessment and quotation request, we supplied and installed a replacement RN2d-T2-S-21 transformer-mounted RMU, delivering a modern and dependable solution with minimal disruption to operations.
Objectives
- Replace the existing transformer-mounted RMU with a modern equivalent.
- Improve network reliability and operational safety.
- Minimise downtime and disruption to the client's electrical supply.
- Ensure compliance with current industry standards and utility requirements.
- Provide a future-proof solution capable of supporting ongoing site operations.
Work Completed
Our engineers managed the project from supply through to final commissioning, undertaking the following works:
- Supply of a new RN2d-T2-S-21 transformer mounted RMU
- Safe isolation and removal of the existing RMU equipment.
- Installation and mechanical mounting of the replacement unit.
- Connection of incoming and outgoing high-voltage cables.
- Electrical testing and inspection of all connections and protection systems.
- Commissioning and operational verification of the new RMU.
- Completion of all relevant certification and handover documentation.
