Emergency call-out to ACB failure
Date of Project: July 2025 Location:
About This Project
We were called to site following a critical fault where the 1000A Air Circuit Breaker (ACB) on the incoming supply had failed.
Investigation revealed a suspected loose connection on the mains side. This resulted in arcing, which caused a fire and subsequently led to a complete power outage.
What We Did
Our team attended site promptly and removed the damaged section. To restore power, we diverted the existing cables to a spare ACB, successfully reinstating the supply to the facility.
Power was restored quickly, minimizing downtime and preventing further damage. The faulty components were isolated for replacement, and recommendations were provided to prevent recurrence.
Lessons Learned
Importance of Regular Maintenance
Loose connections can lead to severe electrical faults. Routine inspections and torque checks on critical connections are essential to prevent arcing and overheating.Early Detection Saves Costs
Implementing thermal imaging and monitoring systems can help identify hotspots before they escalate into major failures.
